The horizontal double-suction middle-opening pump has many advantages such as excellent structure, stable operation, low noise, and ease of maintenance. It is widely used in the electric power industry, water conservancy industry, steel industry, petrochemical industry, water plant projects, municipal engineering, sewage treatment, shipbuilding industry, mineral exploration, aviation, etc. Let's take a look at the structure of the horizontal double-suction middle-opening pump!

To transport water or liquids with physical and chemical properties similar to water, a dual-operation centrifugal pump is used. It is suitable for factories, mines, urban areas, power plants for water supply and drainage, farmland irrigation and drainage, and various water conservancy projects. The surface of the centrifugal pump should be cleaned regularly during the double-suction process. When lubricated with oil, change the oil every month; when lubricated with grease, change the grease every six months. Do not discharge muddy water containing sand. Otherwise, components like impellers, wear rings, and fillers are prone to wear. Before winter storage, a comprehensive inspection should be conducted including the power machine, transmission equipment, and electrical equipment.

Compared to other similar pumps, the horizontal double-suction middle-opening pump features a long lifespan, high efficiency, reasonable structure, low operating costs, and convenient installation and maintenance. It is an ideal pump for firefighting, air conditioning, chemical engineering, water treatment, and other industries. To meet the diverse requirements of users worldwide, the inlet and outlet flanges of the double-suction centrifugal pump are located on the bottom of the pump body. This allows for rotor removal without disassembling the system piping for easy maintenance. Some pump bodies adopt a dual-channel design.

The hydraulic design of the impeller of the horizontal double-suction middle-opening pump utilizes advanced CFD technology to improve the hydraulic efficiency of the pump. The balanced impeller ensures stable operation of the pump with a thick shaft diameter and short bearing spacing to reduce shaft deflection and extend the service life of mechanical seals and bearings. The boss of the double-suction centrifugal pump can be made from various materials to prevent shaft corrosion and wear. The boss features replaceable wear rings between the pump body and impeller to prevent wear on both parts; this allows for easy replacement and low maintenance costs while ensuring operational clearance and high working efficiency.

The horizontal double-suction middle-opening pump can use packing or mechanical seals without removing the pump cover to replace sealing devices. Due to the unique design of the bearing housing, bearings can be lubricated with grease or light oil; their design life exceeds 100,000 hours. It can also use double-row thrust bearings or sealed bearings. The suction inlet and discharge outlet of the double-suction centrifugal pump are both located below the pump shaft centerline and are perpendicular to the axis in a horizontal direction for the pump casing. During inspection at mid-open positions, there is no need to remove water; when viewed from the coupling towards the pump in discharge piping and motor setup, the pump rotates in a counter-clockwise direction.

The body and cover of the horizontal double-suction middle-opening pump form an impeller working chamber. Installation threaded holes for vacuum gauges and pressure gauges are made on the inlet and outlet flanges; drainage threaded holes are made at the lower part of these flanges. The impeller undergoes static balance checks; axial forces on it are balanced through symmetrical configurations of blades fixed by bosses and nuts on both sides. The remaining axial force can be supported by bearings at coaxial ends. The shaft of the double-suction centrifugal pump is supported by two single-row radial ball bearings installed in bearing housings at both ends of the pump body lubricated with grease; double-suction sealing rings reduce leakage from the pumping chamber back into the suction chamber.
