The Recirculation System of the Maliu Tailings Pond It mainly consists of modular floating platforms, prefabricated control rooms, water pumps, pedestrian walkways, safety facilities, and electrical control systems.
Technical Specifications
One set of tailings pond recirculation pumps, dilution water pumps, and a floating platform (including a pontoon bridge), with four double-suction horizontal mid-flow water pumps installed on the floating platform—two recirculation pumps and two dilution water pumps. The specific configuration and requirements are as follows:

2. Dilution water pumps: 2 units (1 working, 1 standby)

Electrical Control System
Since the return water pump and the dilution water pump serve two different supply points, a single PLC control system is employed.
The electrical control system manages the start-up and shutdown of the return-water facilities; it displays pump operating parameters such as current, voltage, and power; under various fault conditions, it automatically initiates protective shutdown and triggers alarms; and when on-site emergencies occur or unauthorized personnel approach, alarms are activated both on-site and in the control room. The site operates unattended with remote monitoring, and all data is transmitted via wired connections.
Safety Accessories
This tailings pond is situated in a mountainous area and is susceptible to strong winds and lightning. The tailings recirculation pumps, dilution water pumps, and floating platform are equipped with high-density polyethylene (HDPE) floats, with a service life of no less than 15 years; the floats are secured to the shoreline foundation via an automated anchoring system and fixed-arm tensioning. The operating platform is constructed of steel. To ensure the safe and stable operation of the system under thunderstorm and high-wind conditions, a dedicated lightning protection system has been installed, comprehensively enhancing the safety and protection level of the electrical equipment on the floating platform and pump units under complex meteorological conditions.
