Floating platform --- One-stop solution for the reuse of acid mine drainage in tailings ponds
A project is located in Kolwezi, in the tropical savanna climate zone, with an average annual rainfall of 1219 mm and evaporation of 1968 mm, resulting in extremely scarce water resources. The tailings pond at the project site requires long-term treatment of acidic wastewater (pH 3-4). Efficient and safe recycling of production wastewater back to the production plant for reuse presents a significant challenge to both the project's environmental sustainability and economic viability.
Floating platform Technical highlights
For this project in the DRC's unique environment, we have designed a customized floating platform integrating four core advantages:
Corrosion resistance
High-density polyethylene (HDPE) floats and a stainless steel frame create a dense protective layer, resisting long-term corrosion from strong acids and alkaline water.
Equipment level balance
Heavy-duty equipment such as pumps and motors are positioned in the platform's center, ensuring the center of gravity is below the center of buoyancy. This, combined with anti-sway anchoring devices, maintains equipment level balance.
High applicability
A novel water intake system that efficiently transports media, unaffected by water level fluctuations.
High-temperature resistance
A cooling fan at the motor's tail end ensures efficient operation even at temperatures exceeding 33℃.
