What issues should be noted during the maintenance of a centrifugal pump?

The inspection of middle-opening pumps, especially middle-opening pumps (single-stage double-suction centrifugal pumps), must be taken seriously. Since middle-opening pumps are mostly used in high flow situations, neglecting inspection can easily lead to a decrease in pump efficiency, which may not meet the requirements for high flow pumps. Let's take a look at the issues to pay attention to during the maintenance of middle-opening pumps!

The inspection of the middle opening pump, especially the middle opening pump (single-stage double-suction centrifugal pump), must be noted. Since middle opening pumps are mostly used in large flow situations, neglecting inspection can easily lead to a decrease in pump efficiency, which may not meet the requirements of large flow pumps. Let's understand what issues to pay attention to during the maintenance of middle opening pumps!

1. In addition to strictly following the installation and usage manual for the middle opening pump, two points should also be noted.

First, one should not rely solely on 'experience'. For example, when the bottom valve of the middle opening pump leaks water, some machines do not take much effort. Before starting the machine each time, they fill the inlet nozzle with dry soil and then pour water to wash the soil onto the bottom valve to prevent water leakage. This method seems simple but is actually insufficient. This is because when the pump starts operating, mud and sand from inside the bottom valve will enter the pump along with water, causing wear on the impeller, pump casing, shaft, etc., severely affecting their lifespan. The correct method is to check the bottom valve and replace it if it cannot be reliably repaired.

Second, any faults found should be addressed promptly; machines should not operate while 'sick'. For example, if the packing on the pump shaft is severely worn, please add packing immediately. Otherwise, the packing will leak. A leaking packing not only leads to excessive energy consumption but also causes cavitation, accelerating impeller damage and directly affecting the pump's lifespan. For instance, if severe vibrations are detected in the pump, please stop immediately for inspection. Otherwise, if the pump bends or deforms, there is a high possibility of a safety accident.

2. After a certain period of use of the middle opening pump unit and pipeline, the following maintenance work should be carried out:

1) Drain any residual water from the pump and pipeline.

2) If convenient, disassemble the pump and pipeline for thorough cleaning.

3) Replace ball bearings if there is wear on internal coatings, play, ball wear, or surface spots. Usable bearings can be cleaned with gasoline or kerosene and then stored with grease.

4) Check for cracks and small holes in the impeller; check if the impeller fixing nut is loose. If damaged, repair or replace it. Check the gap of the impeller ring; repair or replace it if it exceeds specified values.

5) When neither the pump nor pipeline is disassembled, use a cover plate to seal off outlets to prevent debris from entering.

6) When not using drive belts, remove them and clean with warm water before storing them in a place away from sunlight; do not store them in places with oil stains, corrosive substances, or smoke. In all cases, belts must not have oil, diesel fuel, gasoline, or other oils attached. Additionally, do not apply rosin or other adhesive substances on belts. Before using belts, please remove any white powder from contact surfaces.

7) Clean all screws and bolts with a wire brush and store them with oil or soaked in diesel.
